Position Overview: QMS Assistant Manager Job
QMS Assistant Manager Job ,The QMS Assistant Manager is a critical role responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of Quality Management Systems (QMS) within the organization. The individual will ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards. Additionally, the QMS Assistant Manager will assist in driving process improvements, conducting audits, managing documentation, and ensuring alignment of quality systems with customer and legal requirements.
This role demands hands-on experience in managing QMS, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, especially sheet metal operations like stamping, welding, assembly, painting, and plating.
Key Responsibilities: QMS Assistant Manager Job
- Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation & Maintenance
- Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems in line with ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 (Integrated Management System – IMS).
- Ensure all standard requirements are effectively linked with manufacturing processes to achieve desired results and meet customer and legal requirements.
- Monitor compliance with IMS requirements and ensure alignment across various departments.
- Lead the development and updating of manuals, procedures, work instructions, check sheets, and records as per process requirements.
- Audits and Compliance
- Conduct internal audits for IMS, including process, product, and customer-specific audits.
- Facilitate external audits conducted by certification bodies or customers.
- Assist process owners in preparing for audits and ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for audits, including master lists of documents, revisions, and obsolescence.
- Training and Development
- Develop and implement training programs to improve employee understanding of quality management systems.
- Organize workshops and sessions to ensure staff is well-versed in IMS and compliance requirements.
- Provide guidance to employees on maintaining quality standards and achieving process excellence.
- Documentation and Record Maintenance
- Maintain master lists of documents, including manuals, procedures, and records, ensuring proper revision control.
- Ensure the systematic storage and retrieval of quality documentation.
- Periodically update documentation to reflect changes in processes, customer requirements, or legal obligations.
- Quality Assurance and Inspection
- Oversee periodic checks of parts and processes, including gauge validation, calibration, and other testing.
- Address issues related to part inspection and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that quality processes are robust and capable of meeting customer expectations.
- Process and Product Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with departments to implement changes.
- Address quality issues through root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are sustainable.
- Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance product quality.
- Customer and Legal Compliance
- Ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with customer-specific and legal requirements.
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve customer complaints and prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain effective communication with customers regarding quality management and compliance matters.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead quality-related initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Act as a key point of contact for quality management system-related activities.
- Motivate and guide the quality team to achieve operational excellence.
Key Skills and Qualifications: QMS Assistant Manager Job
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.Tech/B.E.) in any specialization is mandatory.
Professional Certifications
- Must be a certified auditor for ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949, EMS (ISO 14001), and OHSAS (ISO 45001).
- Additional certifications in Lean Six Sigma or similar frameworks are advantageous.
Experience
- A minimum of 5–8 years of experience in quality management systems, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience in managing sheet metal processes such as stamping, welding, assembly, painting, and plating.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in quality system management and audit documentation.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, CAPA, and root cause analysis.
- Expertise in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and QMS software.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
