As a Senior Accountant, you will oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, while also managing audits, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and other critical accounting tasks. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and other senior management to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company’s financial systems.

1. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
– Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with local and international accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
– Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, providing detailed analysis of variances, trends, and financial performance metrics.
– Develop financial forecasts and budgets, and regularly monitor actual results against these forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for corrective action.

2. General Ledger Management:
– Oversee the general ledger, ensuring that all transactions are accurately posted and reconciled.
– Perform month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring that all relevant adjustments, accruals, and provisions are recorded.
– Manage the chart of accounts and ensure that all financial transactions are categorized correctly.
– Reconcile bank accounts, vendor statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy in the financial records.

3. Tax Compliance and Auditing:
– Ensure the company complies with all tax regulations, including income tax, GST, VAT, excise duty, and other statutory requirements.
– Prepare and file tax returns in a timely manner, working with external tax advisors as necessary to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
– Manage internal and external audits, providing auditors with necessary information and resolving any discrepancies or audit findings.
– Ensure compliance with all government regulations and accounting standards.
– Assist in tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure efficient use of tax incentives or exemptions available to the manufacturing sector.

4. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
– Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring that all invoices are processed accurately and payments are made/received on time.
– Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring that funds are available to meet operational needs.
– Manage credit control by reviewing customer payment terms, monitoring overdue accounts, and following up on outstanding invoices.
– Reconcile vendor and customer statements to ensure that all transactions are accurate and up-to-date.

5. Budgeting and Financial Planning:
– Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop annual budgets that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
– Track actual performance against the budget and provide detailed variance analysis to senior management.
– Assist in long-term financial planning, including capital expenditure planning, financing strategies, and risk management.
– Work with the CFO and other executives to develop strategies for cost control, margin improvement, and profitability enhancement.

6. Payroll and Benefits Administration:
– Oversee the payroll process, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time.
– Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and other statutory requirements, such as provident fund contributions, ESI, and gratuity.
– Work with the human resources department to ensure that employee benefits are properly accounted for and reported in the financial statements.
– Manage the reconciliation of payroll-related accounts, ensuring that all payroll expenses are accurately recorded.

7. Cost Accounting and Inventory Management:
– Implement and maintain cost accounting systems to track manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overheads.
– Monitor production costs, comparing them with standard costs and identifying any variances for corrective action.
– Work with the production and procurement teams to manage inventory levels, ensuring that inventory is valued accurately and in accordance with accounting standards.
– Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between the physical count and the financial records.
